Global Trade Negotiations: Carving Space for the Small and VulnerablePriorities for 2009Looking ahead, in accordance with the July 2004 mandate issued by the CARICOM heads of Government, the region will formally commence the negotiation of an enhanced trade agreement with Canada. The priorities under this negotiation process will include the creation of an agreement that will - preserve, build on and broaden the scope of the current instruments of trade and economic co-operation;
- deepen disciplines to improve market access for CARICOM exports of goods and services;
- stimulate increased flows of Canadian investment into the region;
- and provide a comprehensive framework for development co-operation initiatives.
