FTAA Negotiations

Progress in the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) negotiations has been delayed by a protracted impasse. The negotiating process broke down in
February 2004 following failure by Senior Trade Officials to agree on the scope of obligations to be assumed by all FTAA countries, as well as
procedures for the conduct of plurilateral negotiations. Pending further development in resolving the impasse, these negotiations are now considered
dormant.
