Mr. Derek E. Browne is the Information Technology Specialist in the Office of Trade Negotiation (OTN) of the CARICOM Secretariat, formerly the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CRNM).
He provides IT support to the team of CRNM trade policy specialists and their activities related to the negotiation of economic and trade agreements regionally and internationally using a combination of platforms and technologies (email, websites, online forums, secure servers). He also manages the trade information network, “Virtual Secretariat,” an online information and communication tool that facilitates collaboration among CARIFORUM Trade Ministries and regional trade-supporting institutions.
Mr. Browne also works with the Services Unit responsible for Services Trade in the area of Telecommunications and ICT.
Mr. Browne has a wealth of project management and ICT work experience that includes companies such as Accenture, Citibank, the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the OECS Secretariat, where he served as the Information Systems Officer with lead responsibility for the Secretariat's Information Technology Unit.
Mr. Browne has served and continues to serve on a number of local and regional ICT working group committees which included the Government of St. Lucia Working Committees on E-Government and E-Commerce. He currently serves as a member of CARICOM’s Regional ICT Steering Committee.
Mr. Browne holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from New York University and has completed Certificate Programmes in International Trade Policy at the University of the West Indies and Information Technology Management at the Singapore Institute of Systems Science. |
