Michele A. M. Lowe is the Senior Coordinator – Hemispheric and Bilateral Negotiations in the Office of Trade Negotiation (OTN) of the CARICOM Secretariat, formerly the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CRNM).
Ms. Lowe has direct responsibility for all matters related to the Caribbean’s involvement in Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA) and bilateral negotiations.
Prior to this, she held the position of Research and Programme Officer, in charge of assisting the Chief Technical Adviser of the CRNM in coordinating and executing the Technical Work Programme of the organization.
Ms. Lowe is a part-time Lecturer at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus. She was also a facilitator for the 2004 UWI/WTO Trade Policy Course for Regional Trade Officials held at the UWI, Mona Campus.
Miss Lowe was educated in the Caribbean and the United Kingdom. She pursued post-graduate studies at the University of Hull, England where she received a MA (distinction) in Contemporary International Studies. She possesses a Post-graduate Diploma (Distinction) in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations, UWI St. Augustine, and a Bachelor of Arts (Upper Second Class Honours) in Communication with Language and Literature (Spanish) from the University of the West Indies, Mona.
Prior to joining the OTN, she worked as a Consultant for the London-based Caribbean Council for Europe (CCE) and its (private sector) member organizations in the Caribbean. She is a trained journalist, with experience as a Senior News Editor/Producer in a leading Jamaican media house. |
